According to the data of the association of European car manufacturers (ACEA), Kia Motors Europe recorded record sales in the first quarter.
Kia in Europe in the first quarter was more successful at 5.2% – a record 131,434 vehicles sold
The number of first-time registered Kia vehicles in Europe rose by 5.2% in the first three months – from last year’s 124,987 to 131,434 vehicles *, setting a new sales record for this oldest Korean automaker.
March is Kia’s the best selling month in Europe
For the first time, 57,492 vehicles were the most fertile month in the history of China in Europe. This represents an increase of 4.5% compared to March 2017, when it was first registered 55.007 Kia. The European market share of Koreans in the first three months of this year was 3.1% (2.9% in the same period of 2017).

Kia’s best-selling model in Europe in the first quarter of 2018 is the Sportage Sportage, which has found 34,644 customers. The outgoing generation of Kia cee’d is with a total of 18,625 copies sold in the second place (+ 0.8% compared to the same period last year). Sale of the new Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon starts in late summer.
The new Stonic and Picanto are credited with increasing the popularity of China
Significantly better sales of Kia contributed to the models presented last year. Picanto’s urban Picasso sales jumped 12.4% (18,573 vehicles), making this model the third best-selling model in Europe this year. In the first three months, the compact crossover Kia Stonic has sold 15,170 copies excellent among the more popular smaller crossovers.
Kia’s offer of advanced-vehicle vehicles is also responsible for sales growth. The number of first-time registered hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles has increased by as much as 36% with 13,070 copies.
Hybrids and electric vehicles now represent 10% of sales in Europe
In the first quarter of 2018, 10% of all Kia sales in Europe represented alternative vehicles (in the same period of 2017, this share was 7.7%). The demand for hybrid crossover Niro was 27% higher than in 2017 (10,399 sold vehicles). At the end of 2017, this model expanded its offer with a plug-in hybrid, representing 24% of Nirrer’s sales. Electric Soul EV boasts the best quarter in its four-year history. 1,717 copies sold were 53% better than in the same period last year. The sale of the Optima Plug-in Hybrid, which is offered as a sedan and a wagon, has grown from last year’s 260 to 954 units.
Kia recently announced its plans to introduce 16 advanced models – by 2025 – the first vehicle to arrive by the end of this year, which will consolidate the brand’s position as a European leader in hybrid and electric technology.
